Astoria Cutlery Introduction to Knife Sharpening – Terms of Service

By registering for a knife sharpening class offered by Astoria Cutlery, you agree to the following Terms of Service. Please read carefully before completing your booking.

1. Class Overview

Astoria Cutlery’s intro knife sharpening class is a hands-on, in-person workshop designed for all skill levels. The class includes:

  • 45-minute introductory lecture and demonstration

  • 75 minutes of guided sharpening practice

  • Use of sharpening tools, workstations, supplies, aprons, and towels

Please arrive 15 minutes early to unpack your knives and get situated. The class involves standing for up to 2 hours; comfortable, closed-toed shoes are required.

2. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

Our classes are intentionally small to ensure high-quality instruction. Your spot is reserved just for you, and late changes can affect the experience for others.

  • 97% refund for cancellations made 2 weeks or more before the class.

  • 50% refund for cancellations made between 1 and 2 weeks before the class.

  • One reschedule permitted to a future class with at least 1 week's notice.

  • No refunds or reschedules for cancellations made within 1 week of the class date.

3. Liability Waiver

By registering, you acknowledge and accept the following:

  • Assumption of Risk: You understand that knife sharpening involves handling sharp tools and carries inherent risk of injury, including cuts and puncture wounds. You voluntarily accept these risks.

  • Fitness to Participate: You confirm you are physically and mentally able to participate and will notify Astoria Cutlery of any condition that may impact your ability to do so safely.

  • Release of Liability: You release and hold harmless Astoria Cutlery, its instructors, employees, and affiliates from any liability related to injury, loss, or damage arising from your participation.

  • Indemnification: You agree to indemnify Astoria Cutlery for any claims or expenses resulting from your actions during the class.

  • Compliance: You agree to follow all safety instructions and class guidelines.

  • Personal Property: You are responsible for your belongings. Astoria Cutlery is not liable for lost or damaged personal items.

  • Media Release: You consent to the use of any photos or videos taken during class for promotional or educational use by Astoria Cutlery.

  • Jurisdiction: These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes will be resolved under the jurisdiction of New York courts.

4. Agreement to Terms

By submitting payment and registering for the class, you agree to the above Terms of Service, including the cancellation policy and liability waiver. You acknowledge that your participation is voluntary and that you have read, understood, and accepted the terms.
